56 Fulton Street
New York, NY

This 23-story, 120-unit mixed-use rental project, with ground floor divisible space, sits between Cliff and Gold Street in the financial district of Manhattan.

Construction manager, Bravo Builders LLC, turned to HDK as the best choice for the façade portion of the project. HDK began working intently with architects Goldstein Hill & West, in the design and coordination between the alternating brick piers and stone elements, punched window openings, PTAC units and louvers, slab edge covers, balcony railings, and waterproofing systems.

The façade’s mix of masonry and glass coupled with acute and obtuse angles and niches required 90,000 CMU units, 290,000 blended Ashlar brick, decorative stone bands and stone sills, 30,000 sq.ft. of window wall, 8,500 sq.ft. of punched window openings and 1,200 Lft.  of railings.

The Flynn
New York, NY

This handsome 30-apartment building located in the heart of vibrant Chelsea, with units ranging from garden like residences to rooftop penthouses, echoes the neighborhood’s historic architecture, while combining a sleek and contemporary open fronted exterior.

HDK Construction, entered into a contract with construction manager, Bravo Builders LLC,  in collaboration with ODA and Forts Consulting and Architecture, to perform masonry work on the building’s envelope, all of the interior partition walls, and miscellaneous curbs and granite elements on the project.

Given The Flynn’s many terraces, setbacks, and Juliet balconies, HDK Construction sourced and acquired natural granite elements from Quebec, Canada for the building’s façade. Thus resulting in the architects’ vision of the building, a modern design cleverly integrated into the streetscape.

Two Fifth Avenue
New York, NY

This mid-century 21-floor building with modernist style design by architects Emery Roth and Sons needed a major renovation and upgrades to restore the land-marked gem to its original aesthetic condition while upgrading to all of today’s building codes and increasing functionality.

With 353 occupied apartments, demolition and re-construction began on the building’s façade in early March 2012 in anticipation of a completion date targeted for January 2014.

HDK Construction began the mammoth task under contract with construction manager, Time Square Construction, of replacing almost one million special clay coated brick and special curved brick elements, along with extensive essential structural upgrades, vital plumbing and building storm drainage upgrades, marble entryway and canopy refurbishment, balcony upgrades (including new railings and decorative sheet metal) and new roof  systems throughout, to breathe life back into this 1950’s structure and make it once again the jewel of Fifth Avenue.

HDK Construction, after working closely with Time Square Construction and building ownership, managed to improve the project budget during the two year construction process by implementing value engineering and forward planning, thus, resulting in funding being made available for additional work. New sidewalks with special exposed colorful quartz aggregate around the building and a new paved semi-circular driveway with luscious landscaping and subtle lighting, welcomes one home to Two Fifth Avenue, in all its former and new glory.
